Below you'll find some highlights of projects I've worked on and delivered over the years. This is not a comprehensive list of everything I've done but it'll give you a good idea of what I can do.
I built and marketed an online application for independent medical practitioners and small groups to provide them with an alternative for medical billing. The simple to use interface and integration into one of the nations leading medical claims clearinghouses empowers clinicians to take control of the billing/collections portion of their practice more effectively.

This project was a redesign of a hospital intranet site using Microsoft SharePoint. I acted as technical lead and architect to setup and implement SharePoint according to best practices. I also wrote conversion utilities that enabled the move from an older SharePoint site to the new environment. On the development side, I created several custom web parts to display personalized information on various parts of the site.

After working with Microsoft Content Management System 2002 I became frustrated with it and developed my own enterprise CMS to market and sell. It is an ASP.NET based solution with a Windows application used for site management. The CMS features include full page versioning, digital asset management, full enterprise search, and a robust .NET API.
Technologies: ASP.NET, C#, Windows Forms, SQL Server
This public web site for a hospital was built using Ektron content management system along with a lot of custom code. Significant integration into back end hospital systems allowed users to view the most up to date information on doctors. A sophisticated relationship management tool was also built in to allow marketing to build targeted information on the page designed to convert browsers to buyers.

A client struggled with keeping policies and procedures on hard copy up to date and distributed to a workforce of over 4000 employees. Significant hours were spent every month updating and distributing new policies to employees. I worked with the client to create an online policy management system that included full versioning, rich text editing, a notification system, and workflow capabilities. Full text search as well as folder browsing were built in to make finding policies quick and easy for users.
Technologies: ASP.NET, VB.NET, SQL Server
For this project I built a reporting web site that tied in to back office medical systems and delivered real time surgery schedules that were used by surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses. The back end database was extremely complicated and after significant research the correct data was extracted and presented to practitioners. The vendor of the clinical system this is based on has been promising this report to the client for years. To date they have still not been able to deliver it.
Technologies: ASP.NET, C#, Oracle
This project was completed for a hospital who wanted patients to be able to fill out pre-surgical questionnaires online. Previously patients were called by staff and made to answer dozens of questions about their medical history every time they had a pending surgery. This application allowed patients to sign up and complete the questionnaire online at their convenience. Patients are able to save their answers and return later to complete the questionnaire and submit it to hospital employees. Patients are also able to quickly specify that their medical information has not changed in the event that they have subsequent surgeries, saving them time and effort.
Technologies: ASP.NET, C#, SQL Server
A custom portal system was built for a small medical practice specializing in neurological testing. The application utilized personalization to present the user with role based content and tasks. Both the administrative and sales force staff as well as the clinical practitioners used the portal to manage a variety of clinical and practice related data. Previously, all coordination between office staff and field practitioners had been done via phone and email and this proved to be costly and inefficient.
Technologies: ASP, SQL Server
This project was completed for one of the three major credit agencies in the United States. A system that allowed the agency to track and manage the thousands of reels of tape data that came in monthly was built and deployed successfully to over 200 employees. The application had a custom updater that checked for any new releases and self updated when necessary. This helped decrease the cost and time to rollout the initial application as well as any subsequent updates.
Technologies: Visual Basic 6, Sybase
A web portal was created for an insurance company that allowed customers of their group benefits products to manage and update their accounts online. Role based security and complex integration into back office systems played a large part in the development of the project. Microsoft Content Management Server 2002 was used as a platform for business users to update informational portions of the site.
Technologies: Microsoft CMS 2002, VB.NET, Oracle
One of the first automated claims payment systems in the country was built and deployed for one of the nations largest insurance companies. Contract as well as claim information was captured and managed in the application and numerous batch jobs were built to process claims and generate explanation of benefits letters as well as checks. The project had a multimillion dollar budget and took over two years to complete with a team of twenty.
Technologies: Visual Basic 5, Oracle
A simple but powerful application was built for an insurance company to track and maintain functional requirements for a multimillion dollar project. The application captured information using a waterfall methodology and utilized custom reports that presented data on requirements, testing, and task completion. The application was developed over ten years ago and is still being used today!
Technologies: Visual Basic 5, Microsoft Access
I built a product designed to help children with autism and language disabilities that allows parents to create image boards that their child can point to in order to communicate effectively. Parents can create boards and use an online canvas to add images and words. The board can then be saved and printed for use in everyday life. The application uses a subscription model and is moderately priced to compete with similar applications that sell for hundreds of dollars more.
Technologies: ASP.NET, C#, SQL Server
The nations largest retailer of garage doors and gates had a need for a reporting application to launch and schedule sales and marketing reports against their data warehouse. I developed a number of reports and created a simple user interface to view, print, and schedule these reports. Data management also came into play as the data from the warehouse frequently had to be cleaned up before it was suitable for reporting.
